BHUBANESWAR: The way a nurse looks after a patient is comparable to a mother’s care and is praiseworthy, Ms.Saswati Das, Vice-President of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) said on Sunday.
“It is a coincidence that the International Mother’s Day and International Nurses Day fell on the same day but it is only logical,” Ms. Das said while addressing a program organised at the Phulnakhara campus of the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital to mark the International Nurses Day.
She congratulated all nurses for having embraced a profession that truly served humanity.The program was also addressed by the Dean of the institute Prof. (Dr.) Arakhita Swain, Medical Superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar Lenka and Nursing Superintendent (Incharge) Ms. Kamalini Mallick. The Assistant Nursing Superintendent Ms. Pranati Rani Behera administered the Florence Nightingale Oath to the nurses on the occasion.
A program was also organised at the Sitalapalli campus of IMS and SUM Hospital at Berhampur to mark the occasion with the Director of the hospital Mr. Deba Prasad Dash addressing the gathering.
The program was also addressed by Consultant in the Surgery department Dr. Ramesh Chandra Mishra, Assistant Professor in the Gynaecology department Dr. Subhasis Panigrahi, Consultant Dr. Rishika Sen, Assistant Professor in the Orthopedics department, Dr. Ranjit Patra, Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry department Dr. Biswajit Samal, Pediatrician Dr. Minakshi Sahu and Medicine specialist Dr. Amar Das.
