BHUBANESWAR: The three-day State Level Inter-University Literary and Cultural Competition at Utkal University got off to an electrifying start with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sabita Acharya addressing students from various universities at MKCG Auditorium here on Tuesday.
In the opening ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged the students to imbibe positive thoughts and values along with education. The inter-university literary and cultural competition provides a best platform for students to exhibit their skills and gain confidence, she said and declared the three-day competition open.
On the first day, competitions like easy writing in Odia, English and Hindi languages, quiz, instrumental and just a minute were organised where more than 100 students participated. On Wednesday, debate in Odia, English and Hindi languages, drawing/painting, mono acting, skit competitions and final round of quiz will be held. Chancellor of university and Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal will grace the closing ceremony and hand over the awards to winners. Principal Secretary of Higher Education Department Saswat Mishra will also join as Guest of Honour.
Among others, Registrar Dr. Avaya Kumar Nayak, Chairman of PG Council Prof. Durga Shankar Pattanaik, Comptroller of Finance Sri Surendra Kumar Sahoo and Director of Student Welfare Dr. Mitali Chinara also spoke at the opening ceremony.
Students from Utkal, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Ravenshaw, Fakir Mohan, Gangadhar Meher, Rajendra, Khallikote, Kalahandi, Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo, Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University, RD Women’s University, Odisha State Open University, OUTR, NISER and IISER are taking part in the mega event.
