BHUBANESWAR:’Rajaji Utsav’ was celebrated at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday in the presence of Hon’ble President Smt. Draupadi Murmu, Hon’ble Vice President Shri CP Radhakrishnan and Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. On this occasion, a statue of Shri Chakravarthy Rajagopalachari (Rajaji), the first and only Governor General of independent India, was unveiled at the Bhavan.
Shri Pradhan said that Rajaji’s life is a unique symbol of India’s intellectual tradition and civilizational consciousness. The installation of his statue in Rashtrapati Bhavan is a major step towards re-establishing India’s intellectual and cultural heritage. The emphasis that Rajaji placed on imparting education in mother tongue and value-based governance as the Chief Minister of Madras State is reflected in many policy reforms including today’s ‘National Education Policy-2020’. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country has today resolved to get rid of the colonial mentality. The establishment of ‘Sengol’ in Parliament and the restoration of Indian symbols are strongly taking Rajaji’s vision forward in modern India. Today’s special occasion will be a source of eternal inspiration for the coming generations to maintain patriotism and the glory of Indian culture.
The presence of members of the Union Cabinet and Rajaji’s family members at the event gave the event a special emotional and dignified touch.
