BHUBANESWAR: Inspired by the principles and ideology of the Bharatiya Janata Party and well as its Parent organisation, the RSS, senior BJD leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Dr Amar Patnaik along with his supporters joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and State President Manmohan Samal.
Dr Patnaik joined BJP hours after BJD Boss and Ex CM Naveen Patnaik landed in Nuapada to campaign for Party candidate Snehagini Chhuria.
BJP Odisha In-charge Shri Vijay Pal Singh Tomar , former president Samir Mohanty, State Vice President Dr Jatin Mohanty and other leaders were also present at the merger ceremony held at Party State office in Bhubaneswar.
A former Odisha Accountant General (AG), Dr. Patnaik served as a Rajya Sabha MP from 2019 to 2024, representing the BJD from Odisha. He had joined the BJD on August 29, 2018, and was later appointed as the head of the party’s IT Cell.
Recently, late BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia’s son, Jay Dholkia joined the BJP and has been fielded as the party’s candidate to reclaim the Nuapada seat once held by his father. He is fighting against BJD’s Chhuria and Congress dark horse Ghasiram Majhi.
