BHUBANESWAR/ NEW DELHI:  Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Steel and Petroleum & Natural Gas held productive discussion on VC with Dr. Mohammed Barkindo, Secretary General OPEC on current developments in global energy markets and crude oil price trends in the midst of Covid-19-induced challenges and in the run-up to the OPEC meetings later this month

Highlighted the need for producing and consuming countries to take responsible steps in the coming days to enable revival of fragile economic situation globally. SG Barkindo conveyed deep appreciation and admiration to India’s efforts in managing the pandemic and reviving the economic activities in the country,” he said.

“I stressed on OPEC’s role in stabilising oil markets, and agreed to work in close cohesion with OPEC countries for India’s energy security and also for global energy stability in the current challlenging environment,” he added.

Pradhan also congratulated PM Narendra Modi for his visionary decisions taken in the #Cabinet today to transform the agriculture sector and to further the goal of doubling farmer incomes.

Approval for liberalisation of regulatory environment for farmers and moving towards #OneNation, #OneMarket through amendment in Essential Commodities Act will ensure better price realisation for our ‘Annadatas’ and contribute to their overall welfare, well-being and prosperity.

“Approval for setting up of an “Empowered Group of Secretaries and Project Development Cells’ in Ministeries will help accelerate the pipeline of investible projects, boost job creation, spur growth, bolster Make In India and further the goal of a self-reliant India.Also, thank PM Shri Narendra Modi and welcome his decision to honour the contributions of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee by renaming the Kolkata Port Trust after him. Known as the father of Indian industrialisation, Shyama Prasad ji made huge sacrifices for the unity of India,” he added.
