India-SA T20: BJD MP Amar Patnaik Demands Abolition of ‘Pass System’

BHUBANESWAR: When Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik himself purchased a ticket, why passes? Asked BJD Rajya Sabha MP Dr Amar Patnaik referring to India and South Africa T20 match. India is taking on South Africa in the 2nd T20 match to be played at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack later on Sunday evening.

Terming passes as patronage based and discretionary, the BJD MP Dr Patnaik demanded abolition of such practices for cricket and other matches and events.  MP Patnaik said, in India, the pass system should be abolished as it is patronage based and discretionary.

“So many people approached me for “passes” which I couldn’t provide for the #T20 cricket match at Cuttack.In India, the “PASS” system should be ABOLISHED as it is patronage based and discretionary. When Hon’ble CM @Naveen_Odisha purchased a ticket, why “passes”? #AbolishPass,” BJD MP Dr Amar Patnaik tweeted @Amar4Odisha.

Government of Odisha urges sports lovers coming to watch India – South Africa T20 match at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday, to take ample precautionary measures to protect themselves from heatwave and wear masks all through the match.

The gates of Barabati Stadium will open at 3 PM on Sunday for the visitors. The spectators can find their entry gate numbers mentioned on their tickets.
