Increase rate of Royalty on Iron-Ore-Bauxites-Chromites, demands BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahatab

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: BJD’s Lok Sabha SP from Cuttack, Bhartruhari Mahtab ha demanded to increase in the rate of royalty on mining for the State revenue growth.

“The presidiums offered by bidders in case of mining lease granted through auction are indicate of the jurisdiction for raising the royalty rates in order to improve the revenue shares of State Governemnts. The State of Odisha is being deprived of legitimate shares of revenues from succh mining due to non revision of royalty,” BJD MP Mahtab said.

“The royalty on iron, ore, bauxites, chromites, was last revised years back on September 1. 2014, even though there is a provision permitting revision of royalty in every three years,” the BJD MP argued.

BJD MP Prasanna Acharya said according to current growth trend, India will become number one in terms of coronavirus cases, and is the worst in terms of GDP growth. He says State governments’ financial condition is not sound and the Centre is not coming forward to give States their dues.
