NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Senior Biju Janata Dal Lok Sabha MP from Kendrapara in Odisha, has demanded that State’s small cities should be included under Union Government’s Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation ‘Amrut Yojana’.
While raising the issue in Lok Sabha, Panda argued that normaly big cities recieved good funds where as small lacks behind, if Union Government include small cities in ‘Amrut Yojana’, it would be more benificial.
In reply to senior BJD MP Jay Panda, Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Rao Indrajit Singh, however assued that, the Ministry will look into the demand and take right step in this regard.Under Amrut Yojana, at 500 big cities included for more development.
On June 25, 2015, Besides the Smart Cities Mission, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – all intended to enhance the quality of urban living and drive economic growth.
