KOLKATA/BHUBANESWAR:   West Bengal Chief Minister AITMC President Mamata Banerjee on Friday alleged that in PM Modi’s New India Opposition leaders have become the prime target of BJP.

The WB Chief Minister’s reaction came following Rahul Gandhi disqualified as Lok Sabha MP after Surat court verdict. “Rahul Gandhi… stands disqualified from the member of Lok Sabha from the date of his conviction,” a notice from the national parliament said on Friday.

“In PM Modi’s New India, Opposition leaders have become the prime target of BJP!While BJP leaders with criminal antecedents are inducted into the cabinet, Opposition leaders are disqualified for their speeches.Today, we have witnessed a new low for our constitutional democracy,’ WB CM Mamata Banerjee said in a tweet.

Rahul Gandhi has been disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha from the date of his conviction in the criminal defamation case on March 23 over his ‘Modi surname’ remark.
