CHOUDWAR/BHUBANESWAR/THERUBALI/SUKINDA: Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), the country’s leading fully integrated producer of value added ferro chrome, observed its 58th Foundation Day on Tuesday. On this day, statues of the founder of IMFA, Late Dr. Bansidhar Panda were unveiled across sites.
Besides, a number of social welfare activities were taken up on the occasion of Foundation Day across sites. Employees were recognised with ‘Long & Dedicated Service Awards’ in various categories for their service to the company.
Awards were also given away to employees for ‘Employee Volunteer Program for CSR Activities’. Non-executive and contractual workers at Choudwar were recognised in the category of ‘Best Suggestion for Improvement of Productivity’. Annual Employees’ Sports Meets were organised at Choudwar and Therubali on the day.
A science exhibition was also organised at Choudwar where children from six local schools exhibited their projects. Among other social welfare activities, blankets were distributed to the elderly people living in nearby areas of work sites at Choudwar, Therubali and Sukinda mines.
On this occasion Subhrakant Panda, Managing Director said: “Though we are a natural resources driven company but human resource is the biggest asset of IMFA. Adapting newer technology and innovation is key to stay ahead of the curse and remain competitive. All employees should continue to work by the principles of Dr Bansidhar Panda and contribute towards upholding the reputation of the company known for its ethical operations and approach and an organisation recognised for giving back to the society through CSR interventions. We are living in a time of tremendously evolving technological advancement. So it’s important for us while we focus on core operations as efficiently as possible but it’s incumbent on all of us to explore ways to do things differently and in a better manner.”
On the eve of IMFA Foundation Day, mega blood donation camps were organised with support from Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation (BIPF), Odisha State Aids Control Society and State Blood Transfusion Council Odisha. Employees volunteered in large numbers for the noble cause and a record 349 units of blood were collected.
