BHUBANESWAR: IMFA Group has become first to get BIS Licence for Lightweight Aggregate for    Concrete – Sintered Fly Ash Coarse Aggregate as per IS 9142 -2018.

“We have always prioritised sustainability in all our endeavours & this is one such example. Sintered fly ash aggregates are a much better option than stone chips and, with BIS certification in place, I hope it’s usage gets a fillip. @CMO_Odisha@ospcb123,” IMFA MD and Chairman FICCI’s Manufacturing Committee Subhrakant Panda tweeted @subhrakantpanda.

BIS@IndianStandards in a tweet that said “#BIS has granted the First #Licence on all India basis for Lightweight Aggregate for    Concrete –  Sintered Fly Ash Coarse Aggregate as per IS 9142 -2018 to M/s Indian Metal & Ferro Alloys Limited, at PO- Kapaleswar, Choudwar, Dist: Cuttack – 754071, Odisha,”.

The prospect of using sintered fly ash aggregate for non-masonry purposes is a new endeavor. One of the methods of producing lightweight concrete is by using lightweight aggregates such as Sintered Fly Ash Coarse Aggregate, it said.

“The essential characteristic of lightweight aggregate is its high porosity which results in a low apparent specific gravity. Some lightweight aggregates occur naturally and others are manufacturer.” it said.

IS 9142 covers the requirements of Sintered fly ash lightweight coarse aggregate for use in structural concrete for non-wearing surfaces in which the prime consideration is reducing the density of concrete, it added.

IMFA is a world of enterprise and innovation inspired by its Founders Late Dr Bansidhar Panda and Late Mrs Ila Panda. What now stands before the world is a leading, fully integrated producer of ferro alloys stradling the value chain from mining to smelting and with plans for accelerated growth.
