BHUBANESWAR: Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation (BIPF), the CSR wing of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) conducted a virtual ceremony on Friday to handover the 16th “Professor Ghanashyam Dash Scholarship for Higher Education” to six meritorious students. Students pursuing professional degree courses in different disciplines received the prestigious scholarship for the year 2020-21. The scholarship amount will cover 90% of the academic fee and related expenses for the entire duration of the course covering a maximum of Rs. 4,00,000/- (Rupees Four Lakhs only) for each student.
Anita Kujur from Bankadarha, Debagarh; Ashutosh Sahoo from Uttara, Bhubaneswar; Deepak Kumar Mohanty from Telengapentha, Cuttack; Mr Himanshu Ranjan Prusty from Nuapatna, Jagatsinghpur; Roshan Paik, from Jamutpali, Bargarh; and Sambit Kumar Ayach, from Balibarei, Keonjhar are selected to receive the scholarship for the year 2020-21.
Anita and Himanshu are pursuing MBBS at M.K.C.G Medical College, Berhampur; Roshan is pursuing MBBS at V.S.S. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Burla; Ashutosh is pursuing MBBS at S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack; Deepak is pursuing B.Tech. at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela; and Sambit is pursuing B. Tech. at Govt College of Engineering, Keonjhar.
IMFA’s trysts with ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ began with a single vision shared by Dr Bansidhar Panda and Late Mrs Ila Panda. Their visions are now being realized by their solemn successors. Instituted in the year 2005, the scholarship is named after renowned historian Late Prof. Ghanashyam Dash, father of Late Mrs Ila Panda, is an effort to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from economically weaker sections to realize their dreams and contribute towards nurturing young professionals for the betterment of the society.
In a virtual event hosted by BIPF, the scholarships were awarded to the meritorious students by Subhrakant Panda, Managing Director, IMFA & Trustee, BIPF in presence of senior executives of IMFA and BIPF. On this occasion, Subhrakant Panda congratulated all the scholarship recipients and wished them for a bright career ahead. He encouraged the students to work towards betterment of the society and to carry forward the motto of ‘paying it forward and try to help someone needy when they succeed in life’.
