BHUBANESWAR: Continuing her agitation, attack and field visits to counter illegal land grabbing by Tamil Mining Contractor B Prabhakaran and their company , Thriveni Earth Movers Pvt Ltd, BJP Bhubaneswar MP and Party’s National Spokesperson, Aparajita Sarangi , has again written 2 separate letters to Khordha Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy and Chief Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Department, has urged take steps for immediate demarcation of disputed land near Deras MIP; remove encroachments and clearance of blockage water flow to the land of farmers.
BJP MP Sarangi, has been alleging the canal has been blocked by B Prabhakaran, wife Kiruthika Prabhakaran and their company Triveni Group of Companies.
“I hope that immediate action will be taken for clearance of Canal Blockage as well as Demarcation of around 150 acres of fenced land by the encroacher. I am here to extend all support to you in this endeavor in the interest of poor farmers and private plot holders,” BJP MP Sarangi mentioned in her 3rd reminder letter to Khurda Collector.
The MP has also written to the Chief Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Department in this regard. “You are aware of the fact that Deras MIP Irrigation Canal has been blocked by Kiruthika Prabhakaran of Triveni Group of Companies. In the meantime, out of 1850 mtrs of the Canal, more than 1707 mtrs have been cleared. Farmers are happy. However, the balance of more than 100 mtrs has to be cleared by your office. Besides, there is some technical problem in Deras MIP distribution system, due to which the Water Flow in the cleared Canal is not adequate,” she said in the letter.
“The matter has been discussed with the Superintending Engineer, Irrigation and SDO, Irrigation who were present with me on the spot on 23 Sept 2023. In the presence of farmers, it was decided that the digging of a small portion of Canal would be done on 26th September 23. Besides, the technical problem resolution in Deras MIP will be done by 30th September 2023. Immediate action may please be taken to resolve the two issues keeping in view the interest of the poor farmers within the discussed time frame,” she added.
It may be noted here that people of Bhagabatipur and Giringaput mouzas under Kantabada and Mendhasal panchayats have also alleged that Mining contractor B Prabhakaran’s wife Kiruthika Prabhakaran, allegedly encroached upon around 150 acre of land in these two mouzas. Following checking of Revenue Records, it was found that there are Anabadi plots, private plots, Hindustan Aeronautics Employees Association plots, Thakur Jami and a portion of Deras MIP Irrigation Canal within this patch of 150 acre encroached by the woman.
There are all indications and evidence of construction of a huge farm house in this enclosed parcel of land, the MP had alleged adding that land mafias are in operation who have deployed bouncers to threaten local villagers and keep them quiet.
