IBM to collaborate in education, research and innovation in India – Dharmendra Pradhan

NEW DELHI: With the aim of increasing the use of technology in education in India, a meeting was held on Monday between Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Shri Arvind Krishna, Global CEO and Chairman of IBM (International Business Machines Corporation), one of the world’s oldest and largest IT companies, through VC.

The meeting focused on realizing the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and modernizing the Indian education sector in partnership with IBM. The discussions focused on how to incorporate cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing in education, research and innovation in India. In particular, there was extensive discussion on how IBM can partner with the Ministry of Education to further the vision of making AI education ubiquitous in the country and creating a strong talent pool for key technologies like Quantum Computing.

The Ministry of Education is committed to making this technology accessible to every nook and corner of the country, from premier institutions to colleges in remote areas. This initiative will strengthen India as a global technology hub and create endless opportunities and possibilities for Indian youth.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials including Consul General of India, Ambassador Vinay Srikant Pradhan, Secretary, Ministry of School and Higher Education, Directors of IIT and IISc, Bangalore.

It is worth noting that the partnership of a global company like IBM, which has gained fame in various fields of computers, software, cloud computing and AI, will bring about a big change in the Indian education system. It has been reported that steps will be taken to take this partnership forward soon.
