BHUBANESWAR: Odisha’s people’s Governor and Erudite Academic Scholar, Prof Ganeshi Lal, who had on Monday set an unprecedented precedent by discharging his duty even after the sad demise of First Lady, Sushila Devi, on Tuesday acknowledged the condolences and expressed his emotional feelings towards Odisha and its Supreme Ruler, Lord Jagannath.
“Acknowledging condolences Honble Governor said,” The greatest gift from Lord Jagannath to us is the breath,I am the simplest child of Odisha. You are the darlings of the Lord. Your blessings to us in this crisis will help us sustain ourselves. Humble salutations to all of you”,” Governor Odisha tweeted @GovernorOdisha.
Odisha’s First Lady Sushila Devi had passed away at a private hospital here on Sunday night.She was 75 and survived by husband Governor Prof Lal, four daughters and three sons.
The Governor couple along with four members of the first family tested positive for COVID-19 on 1 November. Odisha Legislative Assembly which is on session, had adjourned for half-a-day after Chief Ministered moved an obituary reference in respect of the first lady.
Sushila Devi, a pious lady, was loved by all the members of Raj Bhavan for her warm greetings and kind hearted personality, a Governor House employee said.

Samir Mohanty and many other dignitaries have expressed deep grief at the demise of Sushila Devi. Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan also mourned the demise of Sushila Devi describing her as a warm and kind person who actively participated in several programmes for the welfare of the poor and needy.
Among others, BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik and State BJP President Samir Mohanty condoled the passing away of the First Lady.
