BHUBANESWAR: As the only ED can register a case to probe allegations of money laundering as proceeds of the crime under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), much attention has been paid now on it.
ED is all set to scan the financial deals in connection with Archana Nag Chand and hubby Jagabandhu’s honey-trapping case. A team of ED officials has taken documents from Nayapalli and Khandagiri police stations relating to the honey trapping case.
The ED will investigate the monetary transactions relating to the alleged sextortion and blackmailing of a number of bigwigs.
Reports said, Archana was a partner of a mining company without having any investment by appeasing a bachelor MLA of Odisha.
Police have seized a diary of Archana Nag’s husband Jagabandhu Chand with some sensational information regarding her involvement in converting the black money of businessmen and leaders into white and her partnership in the mining business.
While on her way to appear before the City SDJM Court here on Wednesday, honeytrap blackmailer, Archana Nag Chand, had blamed media for false publicity against her.
‘Without any evidence , kindly don’t publish or air any news , ‘ Archan was heard saying amid women police personnel escorting her “Don’t air false news without any evidence. Media shouldn’t misuse its power,” she had said. Earlier in the day, she was brought to the court from the Jharpada Special Jail here amid tight security.
The Twin City Commissionerate Police had arrested her on October 7.Archana Nag, the prime accused of the high profile honey trapping and blackmailing case in Bhubaneswar has been lodged at Jharpada jail. Arachana Nag Chand and her husband , Jagabandhu Chand were booked under Sections 341, 328, 324, 354 – C, 370, 386/387/388, 389, 419/420, 465, 506, 120 – B of IPC and Section 66 -E, 67 of IT Act and presently lodged at Jharpada Special Jail.
While Archana is accused of extorting lakhs of rupees from politicians, businessmen and influential persons by blackmailing them with videos of intimate moments between her and them, Jagabandhu had alleged involvement in the offence. They possess over Rs 40 crore assets.
The couple have reared a white horse and costly dogs in her alishan bungalow at Satya Vihar in the capital city here. Archana is also a dog lover. She has kept dogs of high breeds. She was spending lakhs of rupees for feeding the horse and the dogs. The Alishan Bungalow of Archana has beds, sofa sets and other furniture worth lakhs of rupees. Besides, she also owns costly cars like BMW, Suzuki Swift and Mahindra Thar.
