BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK:The High Court has directed the state government to ‘submit affidavit’ in a public interest litigation (PIL) filed on the allegation that one side of the road near Naveen’s Niwas was blocked while travelling to the airport and Lingaraj temple via the old airport road or Ekamra road.

[The Hon’ble Court had earlier issued notice and directed the government to take sides, but expressed annoyance/annoyance as the government did not take sides and sought time and directed the state government to submit affidavits.] The matter has been listed for further hearing on February 24. A bench comprising Chief Justice Harish Tandon and Justice M.S. Raman passed the order while hearing a petition filed by social and information rights activist Prakash Chandra Das.

The petitioner has alleged that due to non-removal of encroachments from the old airport road, traffic problems are being faced on the road. People are facing difficulties while travelling to and from the Lingaraj temple and the airport. The petitioner has alleged that one side of the road has been encroached. The road has been narrowed due to the security arrangements of former Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik. The petition states that the public will benefit if the road is cleared and normalcy is restored. Advocate PK Mishra is representing the petitioner Prakash Das.
