SAMBALPUR/JHARSUGUDA/BHUBANESWAR:  Normal life in Odisha’s western and south-western districts of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Rayagada were on Wednesday badly affected with traffic and vehicular movement came to a standstill in view of the 12 hour long bandh called by RSS affiliates, VHP  and Bajarang Dal, which was also supported by the State unit of BJP.

The RSS affiliates were observing a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh in 14 districts of Odisha as a mark of protest against the violence during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations in Sambalpur town. It will continue till 6 pm.

The VHP and Bajrang Dal members and leaders were staging road blockade at several places while most of the shops and business establishments remained closed in these districts.

Meanwhile, security have been tightened in these districts and no untoward incidents have been reported till the last reports came in.
