BHUBANESWAR: GST Enforcement Squad and as well Income Tax Department will grill 4 accused arrested by Government Railway Police here on Wednesday.
The State GST Enforcement Squad, Bhubaneswar seized 32.81 KGs gold ornaments worth Rs. 16.32 Crore from Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Konark Express with the assistance of GRP, Bhubaneswar.
The goods are not supported with any invoices. Four persons, who are disclosed themselves as sales person of Mumbai’s Javeri Market based jewellery shop M/s Sona Rupa Jewellers could not produce any invoices in support of possession of gold jewellery worth Rs. 16.32 Crore.
They also could not explain the genuineness of the transactions instantly and took shelter under pervasive plea for which the entire gold jewellery are seized and summons are also issued to the owner and sales person to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax (Enforcement) Bhubaneswar and explain about the genuineness of the transactions.
Total gold jewellery of 32.81 KGs are seized and kept for realization of penalty and fine. The investigation is in progress. The details information will be shared to the Income Tax Department after conclusion of proceeding.
