BHUBANESWAR: Graduating students of management sciences and hospitality and tourism management at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SIA) here were presented their degrees at a special ceremony held on Monday.
Students who completed their education in Master of Business Administration (MBA) for 2021-23, MBA (Hospital Administration) for 2021-23 and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) for 2019-23 received their certificates in the ceremony where SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda was the chief guest.
Besides, students who did their Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) of 2019-23 batch, BBA in Hospitality and Culinary Arts of 2020-23 batch and MBA in Hospitality Management of 2021-23 batch were presented their testimonials.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nanda, who also administered the oath to the graduating students, described the occasion as momentous while urging them to excel wherever they were placed. “The degree in your hand is not a piece of paper but represented all your efforts over the years while bearing testimony to your knowledge, perseverance and integrity,” he said.
“Learning never ends but continues endlessly. You have to use your learning to serve the society and solve problems in a complex environment,” he said.
Stating that SOA as a university was growing exponentially and ranked high among similar institutions in the country, Prof. Nanda said the graduates would be the university’s ambassadors wherever they went.
Prof. Sitikantha Mishra, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Manjula Das, Controller of Examination, Prof. Anup Kumar Samantaray, Dean of Institute of Business and Computer Studies (IBCS), SOA’s faculty of business management, Prof. S.R. Chaini, Dean of School of Hotel Management (SHM), SOA’s faculty of hospitality and tourism management, Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), members of the Academic Council and faculty members were present.
