BHUBANESWAR/ANGUL:Former Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha and freedom fighter martyr Shri Prithvi Mohan Pradhan was not just a person, he was an institution. He raised his voice against the atrocities being committed against the people and ushered in a change in the society. Inspired by his ideals, we all need to be dedicated to the development of our own areas, especially education and agriculture, said Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.
On Sunday, a grand ceremony was held at Pituvanagar under Angul Pallahada constituency in the presence of the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati, on the occasion of the 118th birth anniversary of the great hero of the Prajamandal movement and Pituva Mohan Pradhan. On this occasion, the Hon’ble Governor unveiled a grand statue and a ‘Smrantipeetha’ of this great hero at Pituvanagar. Along with this, the Governor laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the people of various development projects worth more than Rs. 170 crores for the Pallahada constituency.
While addressing the program, the Union Minister paid tribute to Shri Mohan Pradhan. He said, “Shri Mohan Pradhan was not just a person, he was an institution. His statue and memorial unveiled in Shri Mohan Pradhan’s holy city will remain a shining example of sacrifice and service for the coming generations. The development work dedicated and the foundation stone of which was laid today is our best tribute to Shri Mohan Pradhan, which will bring a huge change in the lifestyle of the people of this region. Among them, the Community Health Center Bhavan built at a cost of Rs. 11 crore in Khamar and the Primary Health Centers at Shri Mohan Nagar and Biru will bring a big change in the health care sector of the region.
He said that Purat Mohan Pradhan’s philosophy of ‘Education is the path to the liberation of society’ is reflected in the National Education Policy of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today. Shri Pradhan emphasized that in today’s era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), children should not only be educated, but also become ‘wealth creators’ and live with dignity. He said that the best tribute to Purat Babu would be to dedicate himself to the development of education and agriculture in the Pallahda and Talcher regions.
It is noteworthy that today, under the patronage of the Governor, the foundation stone of 26 new projects worth about Rs. 153 crores was laid for the Pallahda constituency and 6 projects worth Rs. 16 crores were inaugurated. In memory of Purvath Mohan, a memorial built at a cost of Rs. 3 crores was dedicated to the public at Purvathnagar. A CHC building worth Rs. 11 crores was inaugurated at Khamar and PHC buildings at Purvathnagar and Biru. The foundation stone of a 100-bed student hostel at Purvathnagar Degree College at a cost of Rs. 3.60 crores and a new classroom at Purvathnagar Higher Secondary School were laid. For transportation convenience, a high-level bridge over the Samakoi river at a cost of Rs. 30 crores and the foundation stone of the widening of the road from National Highway-6 to Jamardhi at a cost of Rs. 21.87 crores were laid. The foundation stone has also been laid for the construction of a sports complex for the Divyang at Pallahada and a welfare pavilion at Purvathnagar. The Union Minister thanked the Hon’ble Governor for all the development works and conveyed his gratitude to the people of the region.
