BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Governor Raghubar Das has accepted the resignation of out going Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requested him to take over as acting Chief Minister until the new government was sworn in.
‘Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met at Raj Bhavan today and submitted his resignation from the post of Chief Minister. I accepted his resignation and requested him to take over as acting Chief Minister until the new government was sworn in. I congratulated him for serving Odisha. I also sent my best wishes that Odisha and the country may continue to benefit from his long experience in public life. I pray to Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath for his good health always,” Governor Raghubar Das said in a X post.
Earlier, after voted out of power in Odisha, outgoing Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday tendered his resignation to Governor here at Raj Bhawan.
However, during Patnaik’s meeting with Governor, trusted lieutenant VK Pandian, the man under scanner, was not seen. Patnaik was seen alone meeting Governor, where he handed over his resignation letter. After election defeat, Patnaik skipped Pandian during his meeting with Governor, sources said.
