BHUBANESWAR: During the course of investigation, house searches were conducted and relevant materials, documents and information relating to assets, income and expenditure were collected. After completion of investigation, Sri Panigrahy was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the tune of Rs.9,18,13,007/-, which he could not explain satisfactorily. His spouse was also found liable for abetting the offence. Accordingly, the Investigation Report was filed before the Hon’ble Lokayukta on 9.06.2022. 1440 Gram Gold-Necklace worth Rs 24.25 Lakh Seized from Pradeep Panigrahy’s House during raids.
After examining the Investigation Report, the Hon’ble Lokayukta on20.04.2023 ordered for submission of charge sheet against Dr. Panigrahy and his spouse before the Special Court, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. Accordingly, a 3000 page chargesheet has been filed in the Special Court, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar documenting detailed evidence against the accused persons for standing their trial in the Court of law.
Odisha Vigilance files a 3000-page chargesheet in a DA case against Gopalpur MLA & expelled BJD leader Pradeep Panigrahy for possession of DA worth Rs 9.18 crore.
On 20.04.2023, Odisha Vigilance filed chargesheet before Special Court,Vigilance, Cuttack in a disproportionate assets case registered against Dr. PradeepKumar Panigrahi, Hon’ble MLA, Gopalpur Assembly Constituency, Dist.-Ganjam and hisspouse.
The case was registered vide Vigilance Cell PS Case No.06 dated 04.10.2021U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018on the orders of the Hon’ble Lokayukta, Odisha for possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income by Dr. Panigrahy during his tenure as a public servant.
The Gopalpur MLA had been arrested on charges of forgery, criminal conspiracy and other cyber offences on December 3, 2020. Following Panigrahi’s arrest, he was expelled by the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD). He was released from Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar on June 12, 2021 after he was granted bail by the Orissa High Court in connection with the ‘TATA Motors job fraud’ case registered at the Golanthara police station in Ganjam district.
