ANGUL:Our main goal should be to take Angul’s industrial prosperity to a new peak, create a modern business environment in the district and make the youth ‘wealth creators’, said Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan while attending the golden jubilee celebrations of Angul District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) on Saturday.
On this occasion, he laid the foundation stone of ‘Dr. Devendra Pradhan Trade House’ in the memory of his revered father and expressed the hope that it will give a new impetus to the business transactions of the district. Shri Pradhan said that the successful journey of 50 years of Angul District Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a shining image of the economic progress of the entire district. Angul, full of natural resources, has today occupied a special place in the industrial map of Odisha and the whole of India.
Angul is a ‘small India’. It has mines, quarries, factories and also big markets. This district contributes the highest revenue to Odisha and India in the fields of coal, iron, aluminum and chemical industries. Angul has played a leading role in the country especially in electricity generation, which is a matter of pride for all of us.
The Union Minister has emphasized the development of agriculture and tourism along with industry here. He said, our goal is not to limit the development of the district to heavy industry only, but to expand it to agriculture, tourism and MSME sectors as well. Agro-industry should be expanded based on the approximately 2 lakh hectares of agricultural land in the district. Similarly, a plan should be made to create a modern tourism hub based on the natural beauty of Tikarpada and the hotel industry of Talcher-Angul.
Our main objective should be to develop the local youth as their own owners or ‘wealth creators’, not just chasing jobs. For this, there is a need to create a modern business environment in the district with the support of the Angul District Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Angul’s role will be decisive in achieving the 100th anniversary of the formation of the separate province of Odisha in 2036 and the goal of ‘Developed India’ by 2047. A prosperous Angul will be built by giving top priority to health, education, drinking water, sanitation and employment. The Union Education Minister expressed his hope that a prosperous Angul will form the real foundation for the development of a developed Odisha and a strong India.
The event was attended by Odisha’s Minister for Fisheries, Livestock and MSME Shri Gokulanand Mallick, Minister for Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Shri Sampada Charan Swain, Dhenkanal MP Shri Rudra Narayan Pani, and many MLAs and dignitaries.
