Case Details
On 05.12.23 complainant Biraha Basanta Satapathy alleged that on date 03.12.23 while he was returning from Jayantipur along with cash
₹ 2,10,000 in his Tata AC vehicle , near Chikiti-Berhampur Road near Ghatakeswar Temple around 9 PM one lady asked for lift.
When he slowed down the vehicle some other persons gheraoed him and assaulted him and snatched away his mobile phone, money purse and took away the money of ₹ 2 lakh 10 thousand from him.
He came and informed his owner Pradip Kumar Behera and on date 05.12.23 reported at PS. On his report a robbery case was registered at Golantahra PS and the case was minutely investigated into.
During the course, of the investigation, it was ascertained that Pradip Kumar Behera of Aainabandha Sahi under Badabazar PS limit runs a hardware business. He is dealing with steel/iron pipes and other articles. He has engaged one Biraha Basanta Satapathy as driver of his Tata Ace to deliver goods as per the orders received at different places of the district.
On 03.12.23 as per the demand of one M. Murali Mohan of Jayantipur under Jarada PS limit, Pradip Kumar Behera sent goods of steel items to Jayantipur in his Tata Ace vehicle by the driver Biraha Basanta Satapathy. He had also asked the driver to receive the payment and hand over to him.
Accordingly driver Biraha Basanta Satapathy handed over the goods to M. Murali Mohan and received the payment of ₹ 2 Lakh and 10 thousand. On the way near Ghatmple bridge, the complainant Biraha Basanta Satapathy threw his mobile phone and the purse and took the money with him and hid it in his house. Then he went to the owner Pradip Kumar Behera and narrated falsely that while coming from Jayantipur at about 09 PM when he reached Ghatakestwar Temple one lady asked for lift and some persons came and assaulted him and snatched his mobile, purse and cash of ₹ 2 lakh 10 thousand.
Investigation revealed the allegations of the FIR as a false and the entire money of ₹ 2 lakh 10 thousand was seized from the possession of the accused Biraha Basanta Satapathy. The accused Biraha Basanta Satapathy was arrested today and forwarded to court for the offence u/s-408 IPC.The recovered cash of ₹2,10,000 was handed over to the owner.
