PURI/BHUBANESWAR: Premananda Das Mohapatra, fondly called as Prema Bhai in Odisha’s pilgrimage city of Puri, who was working as Body Guard of Goddess Subhadra, the sister of Lord Jagannath inside the 12th century old Temple, on Sunday, following a massive heart attack, passed away at 5.30 am.
One of the most respected Sevayats, PremaDas Mahapatra was the Badagrahi (Bodyguard) of Goddess Subhadra. Besides, he was the secretary of the Daitapati Nijog and a Member of the Jagannath Temple Managing Committee.
Das Mahapatra was admitted in the ICR of the district headquarters hospital in the wee hours of Sunday morning after he suddenly fell ill. While undergoing treatment, he suffered a massive heart attack and passed away at 5.30 am.
It may be mentioned that Das Mahapatra was admitted to a COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar recently after getting infected with the virus. After recovery, he was staying in isolation at his Hotel in Puri. Earlier, 2 sevayats of the Jagannath Temple ,Baladeva Singhari and Rabindranath Pratihari had succumbed to COVID-19 infection.Andhra Pradesh Governor and senior BJP leader Biswa Bhushan Harichandan condole the death of Das Mohapatra.
