BHUBANESWAR:The law and order situation in the neighboring state of West Bengal has completely collapsed. In the afternoon, deadly attacks are being carried out on MLAs and MPs. The gang rape of an Odia girl and a medical college student in Durgapur yesterday is extremely shameful and shameful, and no matter how much we condemn it, it will be less. State Deputy Speaker Shri Biranchi Narayan Tripathi has demanded that the culprits involved in the incident be arrested as soon as possible and given exemplary punishment.

In a press conference held at the state office, Shri Tripathi said that the inhuman and barbaric incident that happened to the victim student in the medical campus yesterday has raised a big question mark over the safety of women in the state. The West Bengal government has not yet identified or arrested the perpetrator. Even the local police are not cooperating. Although the Chief Minister of West Bengal is a woman, her sensitivity is not visible. Two days ago, the Honorable Governor of West Bengal publicly reprimanded the Mamata Banerjee government for the disastrous law and order situation in the state. However, Shri Tripathi said that the situation has not improved.
The Odisha government and the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi have strongly condemned the rape incident of a medical student in Durgapur and have taken it very seriously. They have demanded the West Bengal Chief Minister to immediately arrest the accused and provide proper treatment and protection to the victim. The Chief Minister has also directed the officials of the Odisha government to go to West Bengal to discuss the incident in detail and provide all possible assistance to the victim and the victim’s family. Shri Tripathi has warned that if the accused is not immediately arrested and given strict punishment, the West Bengal BJP will take to the streets and protest.
State Spokesperson Shri Dilip Mallick and State Media Coordinator Shri Sujit Kumar Das were present on the occasion.
