BHUBANESWAR: It seems, gambling on rise in Ganjam and gamblers have made Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s home turf as save heaven.

This was evident from the fact that, Ganjam Police led by able SP Brijesh Rai arrested as many as 111 gamblers in last 24 hours with cash seizer of Rs 3.20 Lakhs and 15 mobile phones.

Days back,  8 gamblers were arrested with cash of Rs 62,000 and 4 mobile phones by Gopalpur Police Station in the district.

With crack down continued in Berhampur city led by young SP Saravana Vivek M, gamblers are now moving to rural areas of Ganjam to carry out their gambling activities.

Backed by crack down, and proactive role of Ganjam SP Rai and Berhampur SP, Saravana Vivek M, coupled with timely intervention of Southern IGP Satyabrata Bhoi, gamblers are now spending sleep nights in this southern district and facing either arrest and or deserting the district fearing possible arrest.

‘Drive against gambling continuing in view of Puja festive..!During last 24 hours( 7.10.22  to 8.10.22),Ganjam Police has intensified massive raids & detected 20 gambling dens at various PS jurisdictions & seized Cash of Rs.3.19.585/-,15 Mobiles with apprehension of 111 gamblers,’ Ganjam Police said in a tweet.
