Former IAS Officer TK Mishra’s ‘Bhaswati’ wins Akademi Award

BHUBANSWAR: Former Odisha Chief Secretary and prolific writer Tarun Kanti Mishra will receive the Kendra Sahitya Akademi award for 2019. He will get the award for his book Bhaswati.

The award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper plaque, a shawl and Rs 1,00,000 will be presented to Mishra at a special function to be held on February 25, 2020 at New Delhi during the Festival of Letters organized by Sahitya Akademi.

Earlier, the former IAS officer had received Odisha Sahitya Akademi award, Sarala Award, and Katha Award among others.

His first anthology of short stories was published in 1968. He has written more than 200 short stories.

Mishra has also authored a novel against the backdrop of Dandakaranya, a vast territory inhabited by immigrants of erstwhile East Pakistan and a large tribal population.
