For the first time, skill education along with academics through IGNOU will bring big changes in tribal areas – Dharmendra Pradhan

BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI:On the auspicious occasion of the English New Year, the IGNOU Regional Centre and IGNOU Skill Centre were inaugurated virtually today at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district under the patronage of Hon’ble President Smt. Draupadi Murmu.

In this program organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India under the Skilling for AI Readiness (SORE) Special Program, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that the establishment of this new IGNOU center in Rairangpur will increase employment and entrepreneurship in the society. For the first time, skill education will be provided along with education through IGNOU, which will bring a big change. The Honorable President has introduced the value and dignity of her life as an educator. Under her guidance, these centers will especially benefit the people from the lower classes of society. He said that for the proper utilization of the natural resources, forests and labor force of Mayurbhanj, the local tribes and rural people will be connected with AI and modern technology. This will help in increasing their capabilities.

Shri Pradhan further said that India is currently holding the ‘AI Impact’ conference. At a time when the world is apprehensive about Artificial Intelligence, India should take this as an opportunity. Arrangements will be made to educate the new generation through AI. ‘AI for All’ will prove to be a ‘game changer’ in the coming days. Similarly, to realize the Prime Minister’s dream of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, the economic output of the citizens will have to be increased. To build a developed India, our workforce will have to be taken from 50 to 75 percent and skill development is the foundation for this.

Shri Pradhan congratulated the people of Mayurbhanj and Odisha on this occasion and thanked IGNOU for being a partner in this campaign. He said that we are committed to building a proud and prosperous ‘New India’ using technology.

The Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, was the chief present at the event, while ministers, MPs, MLAs and various senior officials of the Government of Odisha and the Government of India attended the event through the VC from Baripada.
