KENDRAPARA/ BHUBANESWAR: Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Sunday assessed the damage of crops in Kendrapara in recent unseasonal Rainfall. On arrival Minister Patra was received by District President Kishore Panda and Vice President and Party’s MLA candidate for Aul Assembly seat Krushna Chandra Panda.
Minister Patra , BJP Leaders Kishore Panda and Krushna Chandra Panda and officials of Kendrapara distict administration also visiyed several affected areas and witnessed paddy and other crops damaged in the recent unseasonal rainfall in the district.
Minister Patra said, District Collectors have been directed to hold talks with the affected farmers and take necessary steps as soon as possible to resolve the problem and provide compensation.
He further said that the farmers who have taken out the insurance are requested to report the same on the helpline no 14447 from their registered no. Minister also visited Jajpur to review the situation.
Minister Patra said farmers of the state have sustained losses due to unseasonal rains since December 20. He appealed to farmers to submit to the government the details of their crop damage by December 29.
In Bhubaneswar, while chairing a high-level meeting to review the situation, the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had directed agriculture officials to ensure that all farmers affected by the unseasonal rains get financial assistance and asked them to submit an assessment report by December 30. After receiving the report, the assistance money would be directly credited into the bank accounts of the farmers, he said. Around 1.26 lakh farmers have so far informed about the losses and damage of their crop under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana.
