RAJKANIKA/KENDRAPARA: Like his late great father Raja Saheb Sarat Deb , who had set an Olympian heights of public services during the devastating 1971-82 massive floods, that rocked the entire Aul-Rajkanika regions facing might rivers like Brahmani, Baitarani, Kharasrota of Odisha’s costal pocket of Kendrapara, the younger scion of Aul Royal family, Pratap Keshari Deb, ruling BJD’s 4th times MLA and former Minister, continued to lead the relief and rescue operations joining hands with districts and block administrations in his Assembly segment in view of the recent floods backed by heavy rain.
Since past 3 to 4 days, MLA Deb along with local BJD workers visiting each and every Panchayats of the Assembly segment with dry food and essential commodities in hands for the affected and marooned people. MLA Deb has been working overtime to ensure that not a single flood victim left untouched during this crisis. He has asked officials to streamline the cooked food distribution and ensured all essential commodities reached to the flood victims, sources.MLA Deb also asked officials to provide all possible support to the flood victims and asses the damaged caused to agriculture and allied products.
“During 1971-82 floods, late Sarat Deb had taken lead in relief and operations and now his younger son doing the same,” remembered a local in Rajkanika. Aul Assembly segment , having 2 blocks of Aul and Rajkanika, which houses more than 60 Panchayats , have been badly damaged while agriculture and allied products have been sweet away at most places. MLA Deb is also in constant touch with State Government’s nodal officer for Kendrapara Hemanta Sharma and Collector Samartha Verma for relief and rescue operations. Most of the low lying area of Aul and Rajkanika have been submerged with flood water while many local roads have been damaged.
