BHUBANESWAR: The Director of Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department, Siddhartha Das has served a show cause notice on Odisha Cricket Association Secretary for the disruption of match caused during 2nd Day and Night ODI between India and England due to light failure.
“During the second ODI between India and England , on February 9 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, one flood light was off, and the match was disrupted. This incident led to about 30 minutes suspension of the match, causing inconveniences to players and spectators,” notice said.
“Odisha Cricket Association is here by directed to submit a detailed explanation for the cause of the disruption, and identify the person and agencies who were responsible for such lapses and outline measures taken to prevent similar incident in near future. The finding must be submitted within 10 days upon receipt of this letter, “ it said.
Earlier on Sunday evening, colossal humiliation for Odisha; a floodlight failure interrupted play in the second ODI between England and India at the Historic Barabati Stadium .The light failure came when the hosts were 48 for none in a chase of 305 at the Barabati Stadium. One of the eight floodlights near the clock tower failed, forcing players out of field.The issue first surfaced around 6:15pm when some floodlights briefly went off but the power supply was restored as England pacer Saqib Mahmood was about to bowl to Rohit Sharma.
