BHADRAK/SAMBALPUR/BHUBANESWAR: With Incessant rain continued to hit normal life, flash floods have submerged several Odisha districts on Sunday. Water in Baitarani river is now flowing above the danger mark near Akhuapada. Besides, the flood water has reportedly submerged the bridge connecting Harichandanpur-Daitari in Keonjhar district.

Reports from Sambalpur said,  the Hirakud Dam authorities opened 34 sluice gates of the 64 with  the inflow of water into Hirakud Dam was 4,39,291 cusec while outflow stood at 5,63,806 cusec.

IMD-Bhubaneswar this morning issued an advisory for heavy rainfall activities in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. As per the advisory, light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with one or two spells of intense (2-3 cm/hour) rainfall is likely to occur in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar today. The alert will remain valid till 10 am today.

The intense spell of rainfall might cause waterlogging conditions in several low-lying areas of the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Besides, there could be traffic disruptions and congestion due to poor visibility.

The IMD issued red warning for 10 districts, orange warning for 11 districts and yellow warning for 9 districts of Odisha for today.
