BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the tragic fire incident at SCB Medical Trauma Care ICU and has visited the site of the incident.
He has also expressed his condolences to the families of each person who lost their lives in the fire and announced a compensation of Rs. 25 lakhs from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to the next of kin of the deceased.
The Chief Minister met the patients undergoing treatment and assured them of their safety. He directed the Chief Minister’s Department and the medical authorities to provide the best treatment to the other patients who have been shifted from the ICU. The Chief Minister has ordered a judicial inquiry into the fire incident.
Leader of Opposition, Naveen Patnaik also expressed grif over the sad incident. “It is very sad that several people lost their lives in a fire at Cuttack SCB Medical College .I pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members. I also wish a speedy recovery to those seriously injured in the fire. May the state government ensure the best medical facilities to all the injured. The Mayor of Cuttack and Tangi Chaudwar MLA have been directed to reach the spot and provide assistance,” Former CM Patnaik said.
