FIR Lodged against Keonjhar Truck Owner Association over Vandalism

BARBIL/BHUBANESWAR:  The Essar Constructions India Limited has filed an FIR against Keonjhar Truck Owner Association over Vandalism. The FIR lodged against dozen over trouble makers for commission of offences as stipulated under the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

In the FIR filed at Nayakote Police Station in Keonjhar,  the construction company accused  several persons of KTOA including Dilu Kara, Debu Pattnaik, Dillip Panda, Suship Sahu, Ashwini Dash, Kumar Sahu, Khira Sahu, Nini Prusty, Sipu sahu, Deepu Muduli, Jeetu Sarangi, Raju Maharana, Ukuna Nanda, Krushnta Sahu, Rilu Sahu all are resident of Keonjhar,, and their associates numbering around 150 persons.

Sources said, Suresh Kumar Behera, manager at Essar Constructions India Limited has filed the FIR.  The ECIL Manager said “Our Company is authorized and provided with contract job by M/s Jindal Steel and Power (In Short JSP) for laying the slurry pipeline from Barbil to Angul. The said pipeline is passing through village limit of Jamiripasi and Kadakala which comes under Nayakote PS jurisdiction. Accordingly, being the contractor, we have deployed different heavy machinery and manpower for fulfilment of contract.The said project was approved by HLCA in its 24th meeting held on 5th Nov 2020 and JSP has obtained all the necessary permissions from competent authority,”.

“ECIL started receiving threats to stop their construction work at the slurry pipeline project, which began about 3 months back, when members of the Keonjhar Truck Owner Association (KTOA) caused obstructions at the site, thereby prohibiting our staffs and workers to carry out the construction activities or they threatened with dire consequences to commit murder,” he said.

The work was kept on hold due to constant threats from the Accused Persons, workers and other staff members left the project site under the apprehension of threat to their lives.

 However, ECIL restarted the construction activities by requesting and assuring its staff and workers including our staff, that no harm shall be caused to anyone, as there was nothing unlawful being done and the law doesn’t permit the members of the KTOA to give life threats to the anyone, he said in the FIR.

“Unfortunately, today i.e  on 02.09.2022, at around 1.36pm, around 150 members of the KTOA led by above named accused persons approached the office/ project site of the  ECIL at Kadakala in approx 25 vehicles like Scorpio, Bolero and Breeza etc equipped with lethal weapons and attacked the office, equipments and machineries specifically by pouring petrol and set fire in the heavy machineries such as excavators, hydras , DG sets etc (Details of which is mentioned in the schedule appertain to this FIR),” he said.

The Accused Persons hurled foul languages and intimidated our staff and workers for which out of fear apprehending their life they fled away from the spot. The accused persons shout to stop the contract job or else they shall be murdered, he said.

The Accused persons in a fit of anger started destroying the property of the Complainant, without any reason. They vandalised the office premises and caused damage to all the machinery and equipment lying therein for the construction work of slurry pipeline project, he said.

‘After having physically damaged all the machinery, vehicles, office items including electronic appliances, the Accused Persons put them on fire by using explosives with the intention to completely destroy everything and endangering the lives of people in the neighborhood. They have also stolen few items like Air condition machine etc. and damaged all the chairs and tables,’ the FIR said.

“The accused persons with guilty intentions trespassed our office and arbitrarily stopped the pipeline work terrorising the staffs and damaged the properties valued approx 2 crores.

 I, therefore, requests you to investigate into the Complaint by registering an FIR against the above named and unnamed accused Persons for the offences committed by them and prosecute them as per the appropriate provisions of law,” he added.
