Fighting COVID-19: It’s time for BJD Minority Leaders to follow Congress MLA Md Moquim

RAJKANIKA/KENDRAPARA (ODISHA): Call it ridiculous or taking things easy. After Odisha Chief Naveen Patnaik, 5T Secretary VK Pandian urging people of minority community , those who attended  Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi to undergo medical test in view of the COVID-19 outbreak, not a single face of BJD’s Minority wing, so far opened his mouth , which raised many eyebrows.

On the other hand, Md Moquim ,who himself a minority, represents prestigious Cuttack-Barabati seat in State Assembly, appealing people of his community to cooperate with the State Health and Family Welfare and Home Departments to fight back COVID-19.

“BJD has many known Muslim faces like Actor turn Politician,  Muna Khan, Ayub Khan, Hussain Rabi Gandhi but not a single leader so far vent his views while Md Moquim getting huge praise from Government, police, public and media for his cooperation,” sources said.

Congress MLA Md Moquim, who has been an outstanding track recording in public life, particularly in entire Cuttack City region, not only underwent medical check up but also, the Lawmaker, appealed to all those who attended the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi to come for the COVID-19 test.The Congress MLA also urged all those who attended the Jammat to stay in home quarantine and follow the government instructions.

Reacting to BJD’s Minority wing’s silence, Odisha born and New Delhi based senior Journalist, Saswat Panigrahi twitted “ Dr Hussain Rabi Gandhi, well known Odia poet, former president of Odisha Sahitya Akademi and Urdu Akademi is yet to feel the necessity of making an appeal the Tablighi Jamaat attendees from Odisha to come forward and get tested for #Coronavirus. Dear Hussain Uncle, your appeal may save lives. #OdishaFightsCorona #IndiaFightsCorona,”

Earlier, after reports of 3 COVID-19 positive cases link Tablighi Jamaat meet in New Delhi, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had pitched  an emotional appealed to all Nizamuddin returnees to come forward voluntarily and get  the test done as soon as possible.

 Patnaik , in his appeal , had said, ‘I request all those who had attended the Nizamuddin event last month to call on Toll Free number-104 immediately, follow the doctor’s advice and get the test done in 24 hours. If delayed, your entire family will be at  stake.”

“Do not panic. I and and my Government is  always with you. I would also  like to request  all the women in the state to cooperate with us for the safety of their family members,” said a communique issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). Stating that coronavirus is the worst enemy against humanity, the CM sought cooperation from all the people of the state to defeat it. After that 5T Secretary Pandian also appealed to them to go for medical check up but till yet not a single from BJD’s Minority cell opened up.
