BHUBANESWAR: BJP spokesperson Pitambar Acharya on Tuesday said that the appointment of retired High Court judge Justice JP Das for monitoring CID-CB investigation into former Health Minister Naba Kishore Das is totally unlawful.
He asked the government to show the copy of judicial order on the appointment of a retired judge to supervise the ongoing investigation by the state crime branch. , why should you use the name of High Court? Justice JP Das has not been judicially appointed to supervise the statutorily conducted police investigation,” he alleged. He said that the state government had made such kind of request to the High Court earlier. But the then Chief Justice Dinesh Saran had rejected the plea clarifying that the court has no power to do it.
Meanwhile, DGP SK Bansal also accompanied by ADGP (Law and Order) RK Sharma and Director Intelligence Sanjib Panda are visiting Jharsuguda some 10 days after ex-Minister Naba Das murder case. The CID-CB probe is being led by ADG Arun Bothra under supervision of retired High Court judge Justice JP Das.
CID- Crime Branch recreated the crime scene at Gandhi Chowk in Brajarajnagar of Jharsuguda district.
Amid tight security, accused dismissed ASI Gopal Krushna Das was brought to the crime spot where he showed how gunned down the minister while the latter was stepping out his vehicle for a public meeting on January 29. The entire crime scene was recreated in presence of the team of Crime Branch that is probing the sensational murder case.
