BALASORE/BARIPADA: On 31.10.2022, Sri Hadibandhu Parida, Ex-Junior MVI (Retired), UnifiedCheck Gate, Laxmana Nath, Dist-Balasore and his spouse Smt. Namita @ Bhabani Paridawho were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.05dtd.06.03.2010 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988/109 IPC for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs.37,74,978/- (Rupees Thirty-seven Lakh Seventy-four Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy-eight) to their known sources of income were convicted by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada.
The Hon’ble Court sentenced Sri Hadibandhu Parida, Ex-Junior MVI (Retired) to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 5 years and to pay fine of Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty-five Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a further period of 5 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The Hon’ble Court also sentenced Smt. Namita alias Bhabani Parida to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand), and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a further period of 3 months for the offence U/s 109 IPC. Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Sri Parida following his conviction
Sri Radha Krishna Kanungo, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Balasore Division had investigated the case and Sri S.K. Das, Spl. P.P, Vigilance Court, Baripada conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
