MALKANGIRIBHUBANESWAR: Establishment of COB-Tulasi in the interior pockets, in the bordering area of Odisha -Chhattisgarh is a milestone to execute various developmental works, providing Govt. aids to the locals and to sanitize the area from the grip of Maoists and their activities for the gross benefits of the inhabitants in this region. The areas of Tulasi Dongri Reserve Forest has been a safe haven for the Maoist outfit since long due to its topographic remoteness and dense forest coverage.

Basically, after the deployment of BSF, every developmental works in the area are progressively going on to facilitate the locals. Off late BSF established 06 COBs encircling Tulasi Reserve Forest area and have been carrying out calibrated & effective domination to curb down the Naxalism in this region. On 23rd April 2023, BSF further extended its deployment in Tulasi Dongri region and established a new Coy Operating Base named as COB-Tulasi close to Odisha -Chhattisgarh Border under the overall responsibility of 02Bn BSF.

Sh Shailendra Kumar Sinha, Deputy Inspector General, BSF Malkangiri Sector inaugurated COB Tulasi on Sunday  morning, in presence of Sh Manoj Karki,Commandant 02 Bn BSF and Sh Nitesh Wadhwani, IPS, SP Malkangiri, ShSubhanjan Mohapatra, DC (G), FGT Malkangiri , Sh Tumesh S SamarathSarpanchof Gram Panchayat Temurpalli and other BSF Officials. The Tri-Coloured National flag was unfurled on the tunes of National anthem by BSF and villagers at village Tulasi under Gram Panchayat- Temurpalli, PS- Mathili, District -Malkangiri (Odisha). During this occasion a large crowd from near by villages namely Tulasi, Cherkotla, Kirmiti, Gogapadar, Kotapadar and Daldaligathered near the newly established base and welcomed BSF troops warmheartedly. A feast was organized at the venue by BSF for all the villagers to commemorate this occasion. During this event, clothing, medicines and other daily need items were also distributed among the locals.

The Border Security Force with its motto “Jeevan Parayant Kartavya”,deployed in the hypersensitive Maoist Infested District of Malkangiri during the year 2010. Since the deployment, BSF is operating actively in the area and successfully countering the Maoists strategy for the safety and security of the public in the interior pockets and remote localities of Malkangiri.
