BHUBANESWAR: The lady IIC of Patna Police limits of Odisha’s mineral rich Keonjhar district , Sandhya Rani Jena was on Saturday placed under suspension for her misconduct on a youth inside police station. Odisha DGP Abhay placed IIC Jena under suspension following a report from Keonjhar SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra.
Weeks back, a video had gone viral in which IIC Jena was shown thrashing a youth inside the police station. Soon after which, a probe was ordered into the matter.
After the video of the torture went viral, Keonjhar SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra directed Ghatgaon SDPO to probe into the matter.The video shot through a mobile phone showed Jena thrashing the youth mercilessly while other staff of the police station remained mute spectators.
The youth identified has Raju Mahant of Talasarua village had come to the police station in connection with a land dispute along with three others on March 25. He was thrashed at the police station by the inspector before being forwarded to court.
