BHUBANESWAR: Odia Language, Literature and Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj announced the recipients of State Film Awards for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 here in presence of Principal Secretary Odia Language, Literature and Culture, STSC Development and SSEPD, Bishnupada Sethi.

Well-known writer, director and theatre artist Ananta Mohapatra will receive the prestigious Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami Award for his lifetime contribution to the Odia film industry for the year 2020 while cinematographer Srinivas Mohapatra and eminent comedian Jayiram Samal will receive the lifetime achievement award for the years 2021 and 2022 respectively, he said.  The award carries a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh and citation.

‘Saheed Raghu Sardar’, ‘Pratiksha’ & ‘Dalchini’ and ‘Daman’ have been announced as best films for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Debashis Patra (2021), Ankit Kumar & Dipanwit Das Mohapatra (2021) and Babushan Mohanty (2022) have been selected for the best actor award.

Odia film director Rakesh Samal has been adjudged best director for the year 2020 while Suresh Patnaik will receive the same award for the year 2021 and Sudhansu Mohan Sahoo for 2022.

For 2022, the Best Scriptwriter award went to Mihir Ranjan Acharya for Bagha Bazari: The Dance of Tigers. Pankaj Jal was adjudged the Best Music Director (Balakrushna Das Puraskar) for Khara: The Heat in 2022. Best Tribal Language Movie went to Dewa (Koya language) produced by Rabi Shankar Rath.

Similarly, the Best Writing on Odia Cinema award went to Surya Deo for Odia Cinema Song (Saturi Ru Athastori). ‘Manayu’: My Wonderland produced by Santanu Mishra and directed by Pranab Kumar Aich was adjudged Best documentary movie.

For the year 2021, Ankit Kumar has been named as best actor for Bhoka and Dipanwita Dasmohapatra for Partikshya. Best Actress: Suryamayee Mohapatra for Dalchini, Best Scriptwriter: Ranjan Das for Bhoka, Gaurahari Das for Pratikshya, Best Music Director: Abhijit Majumdar for Trushna, Best Documentary Movie –short movie: The Healing Touch produced by Nila Mohapatra and directed by Shweta Kumar Das and Best Documentary: The Mountain Hockey.

For the year 2022, Debasish Patra and Amlan Das have been named as best actor while best actress award will be given to Kabya Kiran Shukla for Sahid Raghu Sardar.

Best Scriptwriter will be awarded to Biswantha Patnaik for Sahid Raghu Sardar, Best Music Director (Bala Krushna Puraskar): Baidyanath Dash for Romeo Raja, Best Documentary Movie: Short Film: Mask produced by Nila Mohapatra and directed by Shweta Kumar Dash and Best Writing on Odia Cinema: Surya Deo for Kali Paein Kalira Cinema.

The recipients of the State Film Awards in 33 categories have been selected by a panel of five jury members under the chairmanship of Odia film director Sabyasachi Mohapatra. Each award carries a cash reward ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 5 lakh.
