TALCHER/KANIHA:Earth Day was celebrated at NTPC Kaniha at DAV Public School with great enthusiasm recently i.e on 22.04.2018. Earth Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Coincidentally the day was also the 3rd foundation day of DAV school.
The vision of the Earth Day celebration was to propagate the individual responsibility in safeguarding the mother earth. With the motto of sharing the noble vision “Go Cycling Go Green”, the celebration commenced with a Cycle Rally in the morning comprising students around 350, staff, parents, media personalities, security personnel etc.
On the occasion saplings were planted by Ram Kuber, Executive Director , NTPC, Kaniha and Mrs Deepti Kuber, President, Tanvi Sangam . The plantation programme was accompanied by A.K.Tripathy, GM (O&M), K.S.Sarma, AGM (HR), P.K.Sahu, DGM (HR),NTPC officials, School Staff, students & parents.
Chief Guest Ram Kuber,ED, NTPC, Kaniha addressing the audience shared the importance of the Earth Day & the need of the concern for the ailing earth.
DAV School conducted Poster Making Inter Competition& Speech Competition in which students of DAV, KV and Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir had taken part. On the occasion ,the school felicitated the winners of both the events with certificate and mementos. The students of the school staged cultural programme that mesmerized the guests and the audience.
