BHUBANESWWAR: Sri Dusmanta Kumar Sahu, Junior Assistant of the office of Block Education Officer (BEO), Rengali, in Sambalpur and Sri Gopabandhu Sahu, Peon of the same office have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding Rs 25,000/- bribe and taking the 1st instalment of Rs.7,000/- from an official of the said office for drawl of his pay and arrears and other pending dues.
Sri Sahu, Junior Assitant was allegedly regularly seeking bribes from teachers and other staff for processing their rightful claims. In the present case, the accused demanded Rs 25,000/- from the complt., Rs 7000 for processing his pay and further Rs 18,000/- to process his arrears.
When the complaint requested for consideration, he asked him to pay Rs 7,000/- as the first instalment and Rs 18,000 later on drawl of arrears. Due to such high demand, the complt reported the matter before vigilance authorities, following which a vigilance team nabbed accused Sri Dusmanta Kumar Sahu, Jr. Asst. today while taking bribe Rs 7,000/- from complt through his subordinate Sri Gopabandhu Sahu, Peon . The entire tainted bribe money Rs.7,000/- has been recovered from them and seized*.
