BHUBANESWAR/PURI: With super active senior IAS Officer, Dr Krishan Kumar at the helm of affairs of Works Department and as well as its PSU, Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation ,the construction works for the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Center in Puri is in full swing. As the project is being directly monitored by the Chief Minister’s Office and as well as 5T Initiative, Works Department and its implementing agency, OBCC under the leadership of Secretary Dr Kumar, are not missing a stone unturned to complete it in 30 calendar months, sources said.

As announced by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the site work for the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Center (JBPC) had began under ABADHA scheme in Puri earlier in June this year. The project consists of a major multi-level car parking for accommodating 1400 cars (ECS), pilgrim reception centre, cloak rooms and bathing complexes.
Being developed by OBCC , it is about 500 meters away from the Lord Jagannth temple. It will be directly connected to NH 316 through Shree Setu. After arriving at JBPC, devotees will be able to walk to queue management for going to Shreemandira for darshan of Mahaprabhu.
Works Department under the leadership of its Secretary Dr Kumar had taken a decision for Construction of Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre, Market Complex and Shree Setu along with extension of Musa River at Puri on Turn-key basis under Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture (ABADHA) Scheme- State Plan, which was approved by the State Cabinet in November, 2020.
