BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha unit of BJP has demanded that mines owners, those names were figured in Odisha mining scams and subsequent reports of various Supreme Court appointed panels should not be allowed to participate in ongoing mining bidding process.
Out of 40 mines expiring by March 31, 2020, auction process is going on for 38 mines in Keonjhar-Sundargarh mining circle.
Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Pradipta Naik has written to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urging not to allow the miners who were earlier penalised for illegal mining.
“I have written to the CM to issue a notification banning illegal miners. I have also requested not to allow such miners’ family members, relatives and even their employees to take part in the auction process,” said Naik.
Naik’s demand came few days after a SC panel cleared big mines like KJS Ahluwlia Group of Kamaljit Singh Ahluwalia-Prashant Ahluwalia, RP Sao-TP Sao, Sarada Mines that was subleased to JSPL, Thriveni Earth Movers of B Prabhakaran, Essel Mining of Aditya Birla Group and DR Patnaik Mines of Dipti Patnaik.
