ROURKELA/BHUBANESWAR: To enable talented youth from underprivileged and mining affected areas of the district realize their dreams of cracking competitive careers, the district administration has launched ‘Sudakshya’. ADM Rourkela, Aboli Sunil Naravane along with RMC Commissioner Dibyajyoti Parida inaugurated the ‘Sudakshya’ centre on Thursday at Koel Nagar, Rourkela.
‘Sudakshya’ aims to augment competitive exam taking skills among candidates of the district who have passed +2 and +3. Classes at Sundargarh are underway while the Rourkela centre was inaugurated today. One more centre at Bonai is to be launched soon. The District Mineral Foundation, (DMF) Sundargarh is providing financial support for the initiative, while Niyatee Foundation, an NGO, acts as the implementing agency.
“Sudakshya is an innovative programme initiated by the Sundargarh Administration. Candidates can avail free competitive exam coaching here and achieve their dreams. This will turn a boon for the underprivileged educated youth of the district,” said Dibyajyoti Parida, Commissioner, Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC).
Many studious young men & women aspire to build a career by cracking competitive exams but fail to do so without resources and facilities. However, with proper coaching & guidance, they can step closer to achieving their goals. ‘Sudakshya’, a flagship initiative of the district administration sets out to make these resources available to the eligible candidates.
“After completing my graduation, I wanted to appear for the staff selection commission (SSC) examination. However, I could not afford coaching for the same. Then, I came to know about free coaching under ‘Sudakshya’ and enrolled immediately.”- Praveen Kumar Sahu, ‘Sudakshya’ Rourkela Centre student.
The programme provides free three-month coaching for banking and insurance, staff selection commission, railways, army, air force, naval, Odisha police, paramilitary and other sectors. Candidates are also provided with free accommodation, food, study materials and uniforms.
The coaching centres will provide classes in mathematics, reasoning, general awareness, computers, communication skill, personality development, among others. In addition, the Odisha Police and Paramilitary aspirants will be trained in the physical skills required for the field.
Weekly tests and mock interviews will be conducted so the students can practice and have more success at various competitive exams. In addition, textbooks and previous question papers will be provided for preparation of various exams.
The inaugural function was attended by Anjan Kumar Panda, Livelihood Expert, DMF, Arpan Das, Livelihood Expert OMBADC, Nirmal Kumar Panda, Chairman, Niyatee Foundation, Itishree Panda, Chief Executive, Niyatee Foundation, among others.
