BHUBANESWAR: It seems, time running out for incumbent Odisha PCC chief Niranjan Patnaik. With Congress going to bad to worse, some dissident Congress leaders are planning to meet Congress president Rahul Gandhi and propose the name of Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammed Moquim for PCC chief post.

A party delegation will soon meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi (likely on November 10) in this regard, PCC spokesperson Ashok Samal

Notably, the poor performance of the Congress in the last General Elections and the recent by-poll has made it amply clear that the people have lost confidence in the party.

The party workers are not only demoralised but also lost hope about its revival. As a result, many leaders have left the party.Blaming the state leadership for the present situation, the dissidents said the OPCC has become a ‘sign-board’ party.

Moquim not only has the money power like the Patnaiks but also considerable influence in Cuttack city, one of Congress’s old strong hold.

In last Assembly polls, Moquim gave a tough fight and eventually won in Cuttack, which had been BJD’s territory for many years.
