BHUBANESWAR:An important interaction was held in Bhubaneswar through video conference in the presence of Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Shri Nityanand Gand. On this occasion, both the ministers discussed the new curriculum and teacher training with master trainers and educational leaders from all 30 districts of the state.

On this occasion, Shri Pradhan said that new textbooks will be introduced from class I to VIII from the academic year 2026-27. It will be based on the ‘Odisha State Curriculum Framework’ (OSCF). About 1.67 lakh teachers of the state will be given extensive training to make them proficient in the new curriculum. Emphasis has been placed on continuous professional development of teachers using new age technology. Teaching in mother tongue will be strengthened up to class V, thereby strengthening the basic education foundation of children.Similarly, the goal of a smart Odisha was discussed to improve the reading, writing and numeracy skills of children at the primary level. A 10-day bag-free teaching arrangement will be made for students from class 6 to 10. This will help them learn practical knowledge and critical thinking. Special attention will be given to the nutrition and health of children from birth to class 12. Shri Pradhan said that the government is committed to bringing a revolutionary change in the education sector of Odisha and building a ‘developed Odisha’ through the visionary education policy of the Honorable Prime Minister.

The event was attended by senior officials of NCERT, Union Ministry of Education, State Education Departments, representatives of Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Odisha Adarsh ​​Vidyalayas, District Education Officers, Block Education Officers and representatives of District Education and Training Centres.
