NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Due the Digital Indian Campaign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 3291 GPs of Odisha’s 16 Districts connected with high-speed internet due to DigitalIndia, said Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday.
In a social media post in Facebook, Pradhan said to boost teledensity in Odisha, GOI is also setting up 483 mobile towers for 2G voice & 4G data in 18 LWE affected districts to give impetus to e-governance, boost economic activities, empower local people and also help security forces in these areas.
“3291 Gram Panchayats in 16 districts of Odisha have been connected with high-speed internet access with underground optical fibre cable network under the world’s largest rural broadband connectivity project, the #Bharatnet initiative,” Pradhan wrote. “More than 650 India Post Payment Banks covering rural areas in Odisha are not only providing door-step banking to the unserved, it is also acting as a catalyst for social and financial inclusion throughout the State. #DigitalIndia will be a game-changer in the post-covid world. Hon. PM Shri Narendra Modi ‘s vision and Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad ji’s efforts is facilitating every state to become a cradle of digital innovation for an #AatmanirbharBharat,” Pradhan said.

It continues to transform the lives of 1.3 billion Indians by making them digitally empowered citizens, Pradhan said.
“It is the JAM trinity that has been the bedrock of direct benefit transfer to the poor and providing relief to those hit hardest by the pandemic in India. #DigitalIndia has enhanced the reach of govt. benefits even to the remotest places & has delivered succour to those in need,” he said.
